Russian Malaysia

Russian in Malaysia

Malaysia is a state in Southeast Asia. This paradise, even by Russian tourists, is still not very well explored. Nevertheless, our compatriots go to live there! So, going to study in Malaysia, you will not be alone there.

It is no coincidence that Russians seek to live and work in Malaysia. Besides the fact that there is summer all year round and the sea is at hand, it is a country with an actively developing economy. This means that specialists in different fields can discover a lot of interesting new career opportunities.

It is important to know that a two-week vacation in Malaysia is somewhat different from a permanent life there. However, do not panic: if you prepare for everything in advance, you will feel almost at home.

4 RULES FOR BEGINNERS

1. The first thing you need to get used to is the attitude of the local people. They can spend hours talking in the cafe “about nothing”, they can with childish naivete believe that “the impossible is possible”, and demand from you the fulfillment of this “impossible”.

Relax and get into the rhythm of their life, getting high from what is happening. Otherwise, you will be annoyed, and this does not lead to anything good.

2. Another point - officials. Local officials have a rule - they are not supposed to say no. Therefore, each time, promising to help you, they send you for some missing document. The process can continue indefinitely until it pisses you off.

In turn, the official will never lose his temper - the locals know how to stay in nirvana (read the previous paragraph). In this sense, it is easier for students, since the university decides all their questions.

3. The main religion in Malaysia is Islam. It is important to remember this, as the life of the country is closely connected with religion. For example, in Ramadan (during Lent) you may not always be able to buy food in the afternoon, especially meat. And if people with a Slavic appearance succeed, then swarthy brunettes, who are mistaken for “their own”, are not always successful.

In Malaysia, there is a religious police force (a kind of “morale police”) that monitors the decent behavior of people in public places. It is also good to remember that on the topic of religion it is better not to start conversations with local residents at all.

For example, you will not be able to prove to them that Christianity is also a full-fledged religion, but there will be every chance to end the conversation with an insult from the interlocutor.

4. The state of eternal meditation, apparently, instills confidence in the Malays that no other connection with the world is needed. That is why the country is not very well developed Internet system. Also a problem with satellite TV.

But you quickly get used to it, as well as to the leisurely rhythm of life. In general, the Malay presence on the World Wide Web is minimal. If you need to find something, it’s easier to find out from Aboriginal people and not waste time wandering around the network.

RUSSIAN SPIRIT

There are no Russian quarters in any city in Malaysia. However, our compatriots live mainly in Kuala Lumpur. Life in the capital is in full swing all day and leaves no chance for boredom.

Apparently, from the fact that you don’t have to get bored, the Russians do not organize any communities. Perhaps the only common ground is the Russian site in Malaysia. In addition to all sorts of not-so-useful articles, you can find a forum where ads are posted and pressing topics are discussed.

I must say that at some point Russian-speaking companies will become a real joy for you. The fact is that in addition to museums, music concerts and clubs, there will not be many understandable entertainments. In theaters, performances are rarely performed, and most often in Malay. So, want to relax a bit - look for ours.

Believers can meet in church. There is only one Orthodox church in the country. This is St Mary’s Syrian Orthodox Church, located in the Brickfields area. Here are just services in it are conducted in English.

Any difficulties in adaptation will compensate for the discoveries that can be accomplished in Malaysia. It is clear that against the background of the famous skyscrapers you take a picture on the first day. Then you will become acquainted with local dishes. After some time, go explore the night life of the city.

But besides this, the country has a lot of interesting things. We offer only a small list of what must be done once in Malaysia.

Take a trip to Borneo

The island of Borneo is famous for its beautiful beaches with white sand. In addition, you can spend several days in the jungle or climb Mount Kinabalu, whose height is 4093 m.

Visit Sipadan

A small island, which is actually the tip of an extinct volcano. One of the best diving and snorkeling spots in the world. Giant corals and a variety of marine fauna will amaze you. And, of course, swimming with huge sea turtles is simply unforgettable Visit the Taipusam festival

It is celebrated by local Hindus every year in late January - early February. A particularly colorful performance is held in Kuala Lumpur. I must say that the show is not for the faint of heart. The holiday is dedicated to the god of war, so many of its elements are bloody and cruel. For example, it is customary to bring gifts to the gods not in hands, but on knitting needles and hooks driven under the skin.

Take a walk on the Sky Bridge and find the world's largest flower

Langkawi is an archipelago consisting of more than a hundred islands with waterfalls, beaches and forests. All this beauty can be seen by taking walks along the mountain cable car.

And in the national parks of Sabah and Sarawak, rafflesia is growing - the largest flower in the world. A spectacle that is impressive.

Have fun to the fullest

In Malaysia, the gigantic entertainment city Genting Highlands was built, where there are concert halls, a casino and, most importantly, two theme zones with attractions. It is located at a high altitude among mountain peaks and clouds - here all year round fresh air and comfortable, non-hot weather.
