Visa to Hong Kong for Russians is not such a painful process as, say, a visa to England. Here's what students need to do to get a visa to Hong Kong. First you need to be accepted to a university in Hong Kong.

After you have been enrolled in a university, you need to receive an official letter confirming the fact of admission.

In addition, you need to make sure that you are able to fully bear the costs of your tuition, accommodation and meals in Hong Kong, without working and without resorting to the help of social services.

After enrolling in an educational institution and receiving official confirmation from the university, the student, as well as representatives of the university (guarantor / sponsor of the student’s trip to Hong Kong to study), must collect a package of documents to submit for consideration of the visa issue.

1. Visa application form filled out in English ID 995A (http://www.immd.gov.hk/pdforms/ID995A.pdf)

2. Photo of the passport sample (attach to page 2 of the questionnaire ID 995A)

3. A photocopy of the first page of the passport, as well as pages containing entry visas to Hong Kong, if any

4. A photocopy of your Hong Kong ID card, if any

5. An official letter from an educational institution confirming the fact of admission

6. A letter on behalf of one of the applicant's parents endowing the university (guarantor / sponsor) with the authority of a guardian (for students under the age of 18) 7. A photocopy of a document confirming the presence in Hong Kong of a student's place of residence (for students under the age of 18) 8. A photocopy of documents confirming the financial viability of the student and / or his parents (bank prints from the account, savings books, payroll statements, etc.) TOTAL

All collected documents must be sent through an educational institution or sent directly by mail to the Immigration Department of the Hong Kong SAR of China. You can also personally transfer the package of documents to the nearest diplomatic mission of the PRC.

Payment of the visa fee, which is 160 Hong Kong dollars, is carried out upon receipt of the visa, if you submitted documents directly to the Immigration Department of the SAR Hong Kong of China, if you submitted documents to the diplomatic mission of the PRC, the form and time of payment will be established individually.

The period for consideration of an application for a student visa to Hong Kong is 6 weeks from the date of submission of documents, in some cases this period may be increased.

A foreigner who has received a student visa to Hong Kong is required to take a course at the educational institution indicated when applying for documents, and also does not have the right to work and engage in any commercial activity in the country during the entire period of study.

The first student visa to Hong Kong is issued for 1 year, and if, after this period, the student intends to stay in the country and continue his studies, he needs to deal with the extension of his visa while in Hong Kong.

The student must apply for a visa extension 4 weeks before the expiration of the first visa, after which the visa will be extended for another 1 year or several years, depending on the period of further studies in Hong Kong.
