UK simplifies visa procedures
Are you going to enter the magistracy of one of the British universities? There is great news for you!
The UK has embarked on a simplification of visa procedures for international students. This will help the country attract more talented youth from all over the world, and facilitate the process of moving, studying, and subsequent employment in the UK to students.
Initially, four British universities participated in the visa facilitation program for foreigners - Oxford University, Cambridge University, Bath University and Imperial College London. Recently, 23 more educational institutions across the UK joined them, which significantly expanded the geography of the program.
What are the new rules for foreigners?
The new visa rules for foreigners relate to two procedures: applying for a student visa and employment in the UK after graduation.
Tier 4 Visa Application
Now, foreign students entering 27 British universities will need to provide fewer documents for applying for a Tier 4 student visa.
In particular, academic transcripts, certificates of qualifications and family finances will no longer be required.
Employment after studies
Under the new rules, foreign graduates will be able to stay in the UK for 6 months (instead of 4 months) after graduation. This time is given to graduates to find work in the country.
Prospects for the New Program
Despite the fact that this program still has the status of “pilot”, representatives of the British authorities and educational institutions assure that this is only the beginning. In the future, the program will receive official status and apply to a much larger number of British universities.
The British immigration minister, Brandon Lewis, has already stated that he is pleased to have the program distributed at 27 universities, and added that the simplification of procedures will confirm Britain’s readiness to accept all talented foreign students, regardless of their number.
Who will be affected by the change?
Simplification of visa procedures will affect foreign students of all nationalities enrolled in graduate programs at 27 British universities.
The specialty that the student is going to receive under the master's program does not matter, but the duration of the program should not exceed 13 months.
Simplified procedures apply to students of all programs with degrees MA and MSc and to students of most research programs with degrees MRes and MPhil.
The program will fully operate in all 27 British universities from the academic year 2018/19.
