Universities of Malaysia in the 2015 ranking
The most authoritative international ranking of universities Times Higher Education World University Rankings this year brought real success to universities in Malaysia, which has become one of the new countries included in the ranking!
A total of 5 Malaysian universities were included in the THE 2015 ranking: the University of Technology of Malaysia took the highest place, followed by the Kebangsaan University of Malaysia, Putra University, Sains University and Mara University of Technology.
Experts note that Malaysia's higher education system has been developing rapidly in recent years. In particular, the number of students in higher educational institutions has increased by 70%, and there are also many more foreigners from different countries of the world at local universities.
This year, the Malaysian government announced its serious intention to continue to work to improve the education system in the country. In addition, a 10-year government strategic program was announced to improve the quality, accessibility and effectiveness of Malaysian higher education.
Wahid bin Omar, Vice Rector of the University of Technology Malaysia, commented on the position of Malaysian universities in the THE 2015 rankings as follows:
“The position of Malaysian universities in the ranking is just the beginning of our work. Our universities have always been extensively centrally controlled and regulated by the state. In particular, the Malaysian University of Technology receives 75% of funding from the state. However, as part of the program to improve the quality of education, today educational institutions have been advised to find additional sources of funding. "
In addition, the Malaysian Ministry of Education actively attracts international students through low-cost education and a wide variety of study programs. Also, the ministry is working to increase the availability of higher education for all segments of the country's population, launching various budget and charitable projects. Thus, today in Malaysia there is a real boom in the pursuit of knowledge, which makes the country one of the leaders in Asian education!
